My focus is in History for Secondary Students
I earned a B.A. from Emmanuel College in Secondary Education and History with a concentration in Digital History and hold initial licensure in MA for history grades 5-12 with SEI endorsement.
As part of my capstone project for distinction in the field of history, I researched hip-hop’s delegitimization and rise as a social power in contemporary and urban America. I hope to publish my work in the near future.
Working with professors and extensive coursework in history has given me the tools to make high quality content accessible and engaging for students.

Teaching Experience
Academy of The Pacific Rim Charter Public School (Aug ‘23-Present)
I teach World Geography and Ancient Civilizations to three 7th grade classes averaging at about 27 students. Using the MA frameworks and guidance from my mentor and instructional coach, I have strived to create a strong curriculum where students answer the essential question of “what is civilization and what shapes society.” I foster a safe and inclusive classroom community that encourages students to take academic risk, collaborate, and use their voice to develop strong critical thinking and leadership skills. Students are exposed to high quality resources and content, which challenges them to make inferences and cite evidence when writing. I collaborate with the grade-level team once a week during professional development and oversee an advisory group of students. Duties include regularly collaborating with learning specialists and paraprofessionals to ensure all students have their specific needs met per their IEP or 504 plans, transitioning students to lunch, recess, or specials, overseeing recess, and ensuring all students board their bus or have after-school transportation.
Cathedral High School (Aug ‘22-June ‘23)
As a part-time substitute, I covered classes averaging of 20-25 students in grades 7-12. I fulfilled classroom responsibilities such as presenting material via email or print-out, taking attendance, maintaining a sign out sheet, and writing passes for students seeking the nurse, guidance, or other services. I also escorted students to school or grade-wide events in the cafeteria or gymnasium and was prepared for emergency events such as fire or shelter in place with appropriate rosters and signage.
From August 2022-December 2022, I completed my teaching practicum and took over four sections of 10th grade World History—two college prep and two honors classes of 60 students total. I created a universally designed curriculum and daily lessons according to the MA frameworks, and pulled from students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds to provide stimulating yet culturally and currently relevant material. I also entered grades through Blackbaud, and provided students feedback on paper and platforms like Google Classroom. Meeting and contacting students’ parents was also a top priority to provide relevant feedback, especially during mid-term check-ins. Furthermore, I encouraged students to use classroom resources to expand upon their ideas and make inferences to historical sources to write original and strong evidence-based responses. It was of utmost importance to create a safe learning environment, physically and digitally, by setting norms and expectations throughout the semester and at the beginning of the school year to ensure student success and inclusion.
Maurice J. Tobin School (Jan ‘23-May ‘23)
As a moderate disabilities intern, I work with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on IEPs and 504 plans in small groups and one-on-one in social studies inclusion classrooms at the Tobin K-8 School in Roxbury, MA. In addition to working with teachers in my content area, I meet with the special education teacher to review IEPs and 504 plans, and practice writing goals for students or entering in WIAT scores for quarterly progress reports. I have also observed IEP meetings, and designed or modified lessons that meet one’s individual needs through their accommodations and/or modifications. Strong rapport, positive feedback, and setting small goals are essential for working with students in small groups and with mild to moderate disabilities. As part of my internship coursework, I am creating a portfolio that meets all state standards and the seven competencies for moderate disabilities licensure.
Revere High School (Jan ‘22-May ‘22)
For SEI indorsement, I worked with EL 1 and EL 2 students to develop their reading and writing skills, and learn relevant vocabulary for US History I. As English Language Learners or Emerging Bilingual Learners, students’ native languages ranged from Spanish, Portuguese, and Vietnamese.
Pre-Practicum (Jan '21-Dec ‘21)
Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy, Columbia Campus, Boston, MA—September 2021-December 2021
I observed an ELA and grammar class of 6th grade and 8th grade students. Once the main activity was introduced, I worked with students one-on-one or in small groups to help them complete their classwork.
Richard J. Murphy K-8 School, Boston, MA—January 2021-May 2021
I worked with 6th grade students on Zoom in an ancient civilizations class. I was able to design a variety of lessons, do-nows, and exit-tickets.
Volunteering (Sept ‘19-Dec ‘19)
Sr. Mary Hart Children’s Program, Roxbury, MA
I worked with a fourth grader once a week at an after school program to help him complete his homework. Once we completed homework, we spent 30 minutes reading, and then would play board games, computer games, or go outside.
